This has resulted in negative behavior, increased disciplinary costs, and decreased academic performance. Although most principals and teachers recognize the importance of developing students’ character, pro-social, and interpersonal skills, they lack the tools and direction needed to effectively confront this issue.

When individuals, teams, and organizations prioritize achievements at the expense of their character, their lives become unbalanced and they forfeit true success, which encompasses both achievements and significance. The graphic below depicts the need for balance in one's life.
